Welcome at this comfy pocket shawl crochet pattern. I used Drops Nepal to make this and love to share the pattern with you. My shawl measures 140 by 34 cm.
Crochet gauge: 13 dc in width and 5 dc in height = 4 by 4 inch (10 by 10 cm)

Materials
- 9 skeins drops nepal
- crochet hook size 7 mm
Abbreviations U.S.
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- st = stitch
- v-stitch: (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same stitch
Comfy pocket shawl crochet pattern
Chain 201.
Row number | Instructions |
---|---|
Row 1 | sc in 2nd loop from the stitch, sc in the next stitches. Chain 1 and turn. |
Row 2 | Crochet in the back loops only: sc in each st. Ch 1 and turn. |
Row 3-6 | Repeat row 2 |
Row 7 | sc in 1st st, skip the next. Sc in next st. *ch 3, skip 2 st, sc in the next. Repeat from * until the last 2 st. Ch 1, sc in last st. Ch 3 (counts as first dc in the next row) |
Row 8 | v-stitch in next sc. Repeat until the end of the row, 1 dc in the last st. Ch 1 , turn. |
Row 9 | sc in 1st st, sc in chainspace of the next v-stitch. Ch 3, sc in chainspace of v-stitch. Repeat until the end of the row. Ch 1, sc in the last st. Ch 3 and turn. |
Repeat row 8 and 9 another 11 times. Then crochet row 8 one more time. Turn and crochet a sc in each st and each ch. You’ll have 200 stitches again. Repeat row 2 until 6. Fasten off.
Pockets
Chain 32.
Row number | Instructions |

Row 1 | Dc in the 5th ch from the hook. Dc in the other stitches. Ch 3 (1st dc of next row) |
Row 2 | Crochet in back loops only: dc in each st. Ch 3 and turn. |
Row 3 | Crochet in front loops only: dc in each st. Ch 3 and turn. |
Repeat row 2 and 3 another 4 times. Then crochet row 2 one more time. Don’t fasten off but go around the corner. Crochet an edge with sc around the side, the bottom and the other side. Close with a slip stitch and fasten off.
Crochet another pocket in the same way. Sew them on the sides of the shawl, like shown in the photo.
Finishing
If you like, you can attach fringes to the shawl. Or you van crochet an edge with sc or just leave it like this.
I used fringes and cut pieces of yarn which were about 30 cm long. For each fringe I used 4 strands. Each side has 16 fringes.
Work from the outside of the side, to the inside. See picture.
