Great for the holidays: Christmas ornament crochet pattern

This year I wanted something new for my Christmas tree. Combining that with crochet, I came up with this Christmas ornament crochet pattern. You’ll need some buttons, an old round Christmas ornament and sequins.

Materials

1 skein blue Catania cotton
leftover white cotton
crochet hook size 2.5 mm
an old round Christmas ornament (circumference 18.5 mm)
3 Christmas buttons
9 sequins

Abbreviations U.S.

mr = magic ring
ch = chain
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
inc = increase (2 stitches in 1 stitch)
dec = decrease (2 stitches together)

Christmas ornament crochet pattern

Attention:
This crochet pattern is made in continuous rounds. Don’t close the rounds.

Round 1	Crochet a mr with 6 sc	6
Round 2	2 sc in each stitch around	12
Round 3	Crochet 2 sc in each 2nd st	18
Round 4	6x (sc, inc, sc)	24
Round 5	Crochet 2 sc in each 4th st	30
Round 6	6x (2 sc, inc, 2 sc)	36
Round 7	Crochet 2 sc in each 6th st	42
Round 8	6x (3 sc, inc, 3 sc)	48
Round 9	Crochet 2 sc in each 8th st	54
Round 10	6x (4 sc, inc, 4 sc)	60

Use the inner loops when you crochet round 11. Crochet the other rounds as usual.

Round 11	1 sc in each st around	60
Round 12-21	1 sc in each st around	60

Use the inner loops when you crochet round 22. Crochet the other rounds as usual.

Round 22	6* (4 sc, dec, 4 sc)	54
Round 23	6* (7 sc, dec )	48

Don’t fasten off. Sew on the buttons and the sequins between round 11 and 22. Divide them nicely over your work.

Fasten on white yarn to an outer loop of round 11. Crochet 1 sc and chain 1. Repeat around. Close with a slip stitch and fasten off.

Do the same for round 22, but turn your work upside down when you fasten on.

Place the Christmas ornament in your work. Be careful when it’s made of glass. I thought I was using a plastic ball, but then my crochet hook went through the ball…oops.

Continu with the blue yarn:
